Hey lovely people. We’re here, thinking about music and how it makes you feel, why and how we appreciate it, cause we all need a little music in our lives.
It’s so diverse, how it can tame the savage beast if you’re talking about your toddler having a tantrum, cool an acute anxiety attack, or just chill you out after a hard day working.
Most adults can relate to speeding up whilst driving if a bright and lively tune pops on or turning the sound down to parallel park so you can concentrate.
Music takes us to calm and relaxing places and triggers our memory, almost like a light bulb switching on when our ears receive those familiar and comforting sounds… fond memories.
Why do we like specific genres? This is all down to our memories, what musical delights were around you whilst growing up… blues/rock/punk/indie/60’s/70’s/80’s. This is not to say that even though you may not like a specific genre you may still listen to it as you admire and respect the music theory/technicalities behind the collaboration.
We know your past has powerful drivers relating to your taste in music and that listening to certain tunes, and songs that you loved in the past will bring back strong emotions and stimulate the satisfaction and pleasure areas of the brain. These areas release the natural love drugs – oxytocin (trust/bonding), dopamine (memory/mood/sleep), and serotonin (happiness/well-being). So, when you are feeling low pop on your favourite tunes and hug yourself with love and familiarity.
Music also allows us to have commonality with others, it identifies us and our tastes influence the way others act and judge us. Making us feel like part of a group, banishing potential barriers (age/culture) for one common objective… chilling to your tunes. So, go out there and listen to or make beautiful music my friends.
Awesome 👏
Appreciate.
